Make your own chalkboard meal planner

Posted: 9th Jan 2017

New Year's resolutions can be hard to stick to but if yours is to be more organised and healthy then look no further than a homemade chalkboard meal planner!

You will need
Rust-Oleum Chalkboard Paint
Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish Furniture Paint
Rust-Oleum Metallic Leafing Pen

1.Take a piece of MDF and cut to the size you require your chart to be. Always check the surface you are painting is completely clean, dry and free from dust; if not, give it a wipe over and leave to dry fully before starting.

2. Begin by painting the MDF with a coat of Rust-Oleum Chalkboard Paint. Once the first layer is dry, proceed with a second coat of paint.

3. Once the paint is completely dry, mask off a 2cm border with painters tape and paint two coats of Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish Furniture Paint in Gold. Before the second coat is fully dry, remove the masking tape gently to avoid the paint cracking.

4. Measure the space you have and divide it by seven to give you the line split for each day of the week. Use a pencil where you need to draw your lines then go over carefully with a Rust-Oleum Metallic Leafing Pen in Gold.

5. To create the days of the week either stencil or freehand each letter using the Rust-Oleum Metallic Leafing Pen and then draw a vertical line to the side of the letters to define the chalkable area.
