A brick wall reveal and lots of colour has helped Hannah and Jon Young fall in love with their bedroom
A bit about me
Hi, I’m Hannah Young and I live with my husband, Jon, and our two children, in a four-bedroom house in Kemsing, Kent.
My problem bedroom
I liked the size of the bedroom but initially I didn’t love the pink en suite so I thought it would be the first thing we’d change. The room was very dated with pale blue wallpaper and an old blue carpet and it just all felt ugly and old-fashioned.
How I made it work
I wanted to make it cosy and colourful, filled with beautiful things and somewhere I would actually want to spend time in rather than just for sleeping. I gave the en suite a quick update with new flooring and tile paint and we then painted the bedroom walls, leaving a bit of feature brickwork on show, and then laid engineered oak planks.
My favourite part
I like the mix of modern and Mid-Century styles which really reflects our tastes. I now love the en suite – relaxing in the bath with a glass of wine is my favourite part of the day.
