If there's one room to go all out with your Christmas decorations, it's the living room.
Acting as the festive hub for all your Christmas hosting, your living room is the heart of a Yuletide home. Here you'll be having friends over for drinks, sharing Christmas nibbles, clinking Champagne glasses, and falling out with your family over traditional board games – so it's got to look good.
Your living room will probably already have the Christmas tree as its show-stopping centrepiece, but what about the rest of the room?
It's time to go all out with your festive decorations and branch out, literally, into the rest of your room.
Baubles, tinsel and garlands don't just belong on your tree, they can be used all across your living room to make the entire room look and feel like the perfect winter wonderland. But if you don't know where to start, there's no need to panic.
To help your living room come to life in true festive fashion, we've teamed up with fabric and wallpaper designer, Vanessa Arbuthnott, to give you some tips on how to deck the living room halls this Christmas.
1. Add warmth with garlands
Vanessa says… "Give your room some warmth by using berry wreaths and garlands. The natural and elegant design is perfect just above or below the mantelpiece."
2. Go minimalist
Vanessa says… "If you prefer the minimalist home, a simple and geometric look could be for you. White metal trees coupled with triangular table features will all give you the understated festive look."
3. Festive Foliage
Vanessa says… "Bring some traditional charm to your room by using fresh branches and pinecones - it will help to transform your living room into a true winter wonderland."
4. It's all about the layers
Vanessa says… "You can always layer up the cosiness with some extra blankets and cushions. Keep your eyes peeled for some Christmassy designs that fit in with your furniture to give you an effortlessly coordinated room."
