Research has revealed cheddar is the nation's favourite cheese
The study, conducted by Branston, found over a third (35 per cent) would eat cheese as a meal by itself, while one in ten confessed to consuming an entire block in one sitting (nine per cent).
Cheddar was the undoubted favourite, securing 68 per cent of the votes, with another classic, Red Leicester, climbing to second place.
Pickle was the nation's favourite choice to have alongside cheese, with two fifths picking it as the perfect partner (41%) - and one in ten indulge in the combo at least twice a week (10%).
The UK is traditional in their methods for cheese consumption, with classic cheese on toast being the nation's favourite cheesy snack, closely followed by a cheese and pickle sandwich.
