A dark kitchen and neutral décor gave Lisa Hedley plenty of scope to turn her Victorian townhouse into a colourful family home

A bit about me

I’m Lisa Hedley and I’m married to Jonathan. We have two children, Nancy, six, and Frank, two.

Where I live

My home is a four-bedroom Victorian terraced house in Darlington, County Durham. We moved here in 2013.

What I wanted to change

Everything was very neutral and bland. However, the kitchen was so overcrowded with cupboards that it looked very small and dark – even though it was pretty big!

How I made it my own

I brought in light and colour by decorating in modern tones, changing the floors and fitting new kitchen units.

My favourite part

The kitchen used to be my least favourite room but now I love it – we spend a lot of family time in the kitchen.

Find out more about the changes Lisa made to her Victorian townhouse by purchasing our October issue, available as a digital download for only £0.99, here.
