Buying her rented maisonette allowed Carly Fee to go crazy with colour and unleash the decorating ideas she'd harboured for years
A bit about me
I’m Carly Fee and I live with my husband, Simon, and our dogs Ronnie and Sparky.
Where I live
My home is a four-bed Victorian maisonette in Wallsend, Tyne and Wear. We’d been renting it for two years until we finally bought it in 2015.
What I wanted to change
The Artex ceilings, 1980s fireplace and old, stained carpets had to go. We also needed a new kitchen as the doors were hanging off.
How I made it my own
I love bold, bright colours and drove Simon mad with endless paint swatches. We’ve also filled the place with artwork from our travels and second-hand Mid-Century furniture. My favourite part The new wood burner in the living room was an expensive treat costing about £2,000 but it’s the best money we ever spent as it’s transformed the room.
