Faced with a dark and uninspiring space, Sarah Maguire challenged herself to create a bright home that's bursting with vintage treasures

A bit about me

I’m Sarah Maguire, and I live with my three rescue cats, The Dark Lord, Boo Boo and Cub.

Where I live

My home is a two-bed cottage in Cleckheaton, West Yorkshire. I’ve lived here since September 2015.

What I wanted to change

It felt a bit unloved and the dark walls made it feel gloomy.

How I made it my own

I repainted all the walls and filled the whole house with upcycled vintage furniture. I replaced all the blinds with homemade curtains, and personalised it further with lots of little trinkets.

My favourite part

I love the large and airy sitting room as it has such a homely feel, and really reflects me and my interests more than any other room in the house.

You can find out more about how Sarah created her bright home by purchasing our November issue, available as a digital download for only £0.99 here.
