Illustrator Ella Johnston's home is packed with trinkets, art and literature, creating the perfect space for working and entertaining

A bit about me

I’m Ella Johnston, and I live with my husband Martin.

Where I live

My home is a three-bedroomed town house in the estuary town of Wivenhoe in Essex. We’ve lived here for five years.

What I wanted to change

The house had previously been a student rental so it didn’t have any personal touches. It had no character whatsoever, so our first task was to inject some personality into it.

How I made it my own

We’re real magpies so we’re always picking up little trinkets and ideas to make our spaces unique. My favourite part I absolutely adore our lounge. We wanted to create a welcoming and comfortable space, where we are surrounded by things we love, with books to dip in and out of.

You can find out more about how Ella created the perfect space by purchasing our March issue here, for only £0.99.
