Doing the work yourself can be so rewarding
1. Do it yourself and save. Don’t be scared to get your hands dirty! It can be fun and rewarding, just remember to ask for help when you need it – mistakes can be extremely costly.
2. Make floor plans – there are many 3D and virtual plan options available to download. From space planning to interior design, a good floor plan will allow you to check everything works from the start to avoid any problems later on.
3. Save money on skips and consider a grab wagon. You can pile up the rubble in grab bags, not worrying about an overfilled or overweight skip and you don’t need to buy a council permit if there is no off-street space available.
4. Clever use of paint is an inexpensive way to create interest. Working with a palette of similar colours allows a home to flow, while making a bold feature wall with a statement shade helps to zone a space.
