Do you consider yourself to be a master of the grill?
A poll has been conducted, and revealed that Brits consider themselves to be at the peak of their barbecue powers by the time they reach their 38th birthday. On top of this, a quarter of us consider ourselves to be experts of the grill, the research, carried out by B&Q, has revealed.
So, what does mastering the barbecue actually involve? Well, it's all about timing the cooking of different foods to perfection, 42 per cent said, while the ability to stay unflappable under pressure is a key trait, for 32 per cent.
Another crucial factor is being multi-talented, with a broad range of dishes up for selection on the menu (26 per cent), while having their own special tools and equipment is considered key by 16 per cent when it comes to achieving culinary perfection.
Yet despite this, 25 per cent acknowledge the need to improve their barbecue skills and over half (53 per cent) think the right tools are crucial for helping them master it quickly.
The tools that people think would improve their skills the most are:
1. Thermometer (20 per cent)
2. Grill fork (14 per cent)
3. Oil brush (13 per cent)
4. Spatula (11 per cent)
5. Pizza oven (10.5 per cent)
6. Charcoal starter (10.3 per cent)
7. Vegetable grill basket (10.2 per cent)
8. Smoker box (9.3 per cent)
9. Fish basket (9 per cent)
