An evening at the pub or a night in spent cleaning - what would you rather do?
Well, if this new study is to be believed, the average Brit prefers to spend an evening indoors cleaning the house and folding laundry, instead of going for a few pints (54 per cent).
A survey of 2,000 people was carried out by Brabantia and revealed there was one chore that was more popular than any other, and it may come as a bit of a surprise. The nation's favourite household task was none other than hanging laundry on the line, with 27.9 per cent of Brits saying it was their number one task. Folding clean washing came in at number two, receiving 25.6 per cent of the votes.
If we're looking to boost our moods, there was a chore that proved particularly popular - decluttering (39.5 per cent), followed by mowing the lawn (23.2 per cent), recycling (21.1 per cent), hanging out the washing (20.3 per cent) and hoovering (20 per cent).
When it came down to it, nothing beat seeing fresh sheets on beds - this was voted the nation's 'most satisfying sight' in the household by 40.5 per cent, while a gleaming work surface came in second place, albiet some distance behind (12 per cent). Clean dishes and a freshly cleaned floor followed this with 10.8 per cent and 10.5 per cent respectively.
The nation's favourite household tasks are:
1. Hanging out the washing – 27.9%
2. Hoovering – 27.5%
3. Folding clean washing – 25.6%
4. Mowing the lawn – 25%
