With chrome dominating the showrooms, Sarah-Jane Smith turned to the internet to get her dream vintage boho bathroom
A bit about me
I’m Sarah-Jane Smith, and I live with my husband, Simon, in a three-bedroom, Victorian mid-terrace house in Northumberland.
My problem bathroom
Although I liked having a deep bath and big radiator, they were bulky and took up too much space. The previous owner had attached a nasty shower curtain to a block of wood which hung into the tub to stop water dripping down the side, so it wasn’t ideal.
How I made it work
Fitting in everything we wanted was a challenge, but we managed to make it all work by sketching it out. I turned to eBay for bargain antique brass fittings and made my own vanity unit from a recycled chest of drawers, which saved me money and offset the cost of the hexagon floor tiles. Luckily my brother James has his own business, JWS Joinery, so he did most of the work.
My favourite part
I love the way everything works together and I adore the shower as it’s so spacious. I’m glad I got the electric underfloor heating too.
