'We've redesigned our ex-council pad'

Stripping out the old-fashioned interior and adding an extension has enabled Siobhan and Joe Burke to revive their 1960s house

A bit about me

I’m Siobhan Burke, a project manager and I’m married to Joe, an architect. We live here with our cat, Marco.

Where I live

My home is a three-bedroom 1960s build ex-council house, in Leytonstone, north east London. We bought it in August 2017.

What I wanted to change

We wanted to change everything! It was an advantage that the house needed a full refurbishment as it meant that everything could be updated.

How I made it my own

We followed the 1960s-style through to the interiors and added a touch of Scandi.

My favourite part

We love the downstairs living, dining and kitchen area. It’s spacious, light and great for entertaining – especially with the amazing bi-fold doors.

You can find out more by purchasing our May 2019 issue, available as a digital download for £1.99 here.
