A Song of Ice and Interiors: Brits embrace 'Game of Homes' trend

A Song of Ice and Interiors: Brits embrace 'Game of Homes' trend

No matter what you think of the previous episode, we absolutely cannot wait to see how series 8 of Game of Thrones finishes this Monday

And with the show's hype peaking as we approach the finale, there's a new trend arriving, which has been dubbed 'Game of Homes'. In short, it's all about the nation welcoming some Westeros style into their home.

In fact, eBay.co.uk has reported a 45 per cent spike in searches for 'thrones', in comparison to the same period last year.

Understandably, it seems fans are unable to resist the urge of having their very own version of the Iron Throne – albeit a wooden counterpart. After all, as cool as a seat made of swords may look in your home, it just wouldn’t be practical.

The show has also inspired a rise in searches for both sheepskin rugs and goblets, which have both seen an increase of 28 per cent, while iron chandeliers have seen a 12 per cent boost, as Brits look to bring a bit of the style of the Seven Kingdoms into their home.

Chris Gardner, Head of Home and Garden Trading, eBay.co.uk: "Whether your alliances are with The Starks of the north or the Lannisters in the south, with over 1,000 different types of thrones and 100’s of home accessories, we’re pleased that everyone can be their own king of queen of their own ice and fire kingdom, without the need for battle."
