With two bathrooms to play with, Annika and Rachel Overton-Hope have made the second one an indulgent luxury space with a boutique hotel feel

A bit about me

I’m Annika Overton-Hope, and I live with my wife, Rachel, in a four-bedroom semi-detached house in Burton upon Trent.

My problem bathroom

When we bought the house in November 2016, there were two bathrooms upstairs and they were both revolting with threadbare brown carpets. One was leaking through the kitchen ceiling and the other was leaking into the living room and downstairs loo, so they were definitely a priority.

How I made it work

We decided to make one bathroom an everyday shower room and the other became our luxury bathroom with a black freestanding bath as a focal point. Initially we looked at putting the bath under the window but it would’ve been a tight fit with only 10cm to spare, so we placed it along the longer wall instead.

My favourite part

I love the roll top bath. Rachel suggested the black finish and everyone always says ‘wow’ when they see it.

You can find out more about how Annika and Rachel achieved their stunning boutique hotel feel in their bathroom by purchasing our April 2019 issue, available as a digital download for only £1.99 here.
