4 ways to achieve the industrial look

4 ways to achieve the industrial look

Create a strong industrial theme in your home by giving these tips a go

1. Exposed brickwork is a key element within industrial design. Brick slips, designed to look and feel like the real thing, are a quick and cost-effective way to achieve the look. Or simply choose a brick-effect wallpaper.

2. Be strict with your colour palette. Choose black as your main colour and then stick to shades of grey with just a splash of white and an accent shade.

3. Mix metal, concrete and wood to add an instant industrial hit to any room. Add castors to coffee tables, rest pallets on a metal frame, then simply combine concrete accessories such as bare lightbulbs and rustic elements such as coffee bean sack seat pads with leather accessories and copper or stainless steel kitchenware.

4. Show off exposed fittings and don’t hide pipework. Copper pipes are an instant hit, though any exposed metal workings suit the look and pendant light fittings with exposed bulbs or caged shades are a cheap and easy way to achieve this.
