Tackling the poorly designed bathroom and kitchen has transformed James Mostyn and Hannah Woodland's character-filled home

A bit about me

I’m James Mostyn, a design engineer and I live with my partner Hannah Woodland, a corporate planner.

Where I live

Our home is a two-bedroom first floor apartment within a converted shoe factory in Northampton.

What I wanted to change

The kitchen and bathroom were both badly designed and felt cramped. I knew I could make much better use of the space.

How I made it my own

I’ve always been pretty hands on so I made lots of pieces myself, including the kitchen and bathroom taps, the statement concrete coffee table and the plywood bistro table.

My favourite part

We both love the kitchen as all our ideas came together and it’s such a big change. It works really well now.

You can find out more about James and Hannah's converted home by purchasing our February 2019 issue, available as a digital download for £1.99 here.
