If you're looking for a way to save some money this year, Iceland could have the perfect solution - why not switch to frozen food?

It's a great way for shoppers to save up to 40 per cent in comparison to buying fresh - in fact, after calculating the average cost of fresh products from five well-known supermarkets, Iceland could end up saving shoppers over £15.

With the Christmas dinner being one of the most anticipated sit-down meals of the year, 20 per cent of Brits are anticipating exceeding their festive budget. Now, the good news is Iceland are on hand to provide customers with information on how they can cook a Christmas dinner for a mere £19.50.

If shoppers are savvy with their food choices, which includes picking frozen turkey, pigs in blankets, Yorkshire puddings, sprouts, roast potatoes and carrots, a family of six could be fed for a mere £3.25 per head. This comes in particularly handy when it's Christmas, as we're on the look for ways in which we can save where we can.

For instance, a large frozen turkey will only be £13 at Iceland, in comparison to £23 for the equivalent fresh size at Waitrose, giving you funds to go towards the January sales.

Other bargains include 20 frozen Yorkshire puddings, available for a mere £1.

Not only cutting food bills by up to 40 per cent, it will also reduce the planning, prep and panic times that will mean they can pick their festive dinner up from a local store week in advance - or even get it delivered to their home to make preparations even easier.

Neil Nugent, Head Chef at Iceland, commented: "Christmas dinner is one of the most important meals of the year, but it shouldn’t have to cost the earth in order to have a fantastic meal. We are proud to offer our customers great value food all year round and Christmas shouldn’t be any different."

The £19.50 Christmas dinner includes:

- Bernard Matthews Golden Norfolk Turkey, Large - £13.00, 4.7kg
- 12 Sausage & Bacon Rolls - £2.00, 276g
- 20 Yorkshire Puddings (25% extra free) - £1.00, 362g
- Frozen for Freshness Button Sprouts - £1.00, 900g
- Luxury Goose Fat Roast Potatoes - £1.50, 1.05kg
- Frozen for Freshness Baby Carrots - £1.00, 900g
