Keep your oven sparkling by giving these top tips, courtesy of Dr. Beckmann, a go!
1. Soak the shelves
Be sure to remove your shelves before you start any cleaning. It's nice and simple - place them in the dishwasher if you have one. If not, try a sink of hot soapy water and let them soak for around an hour. After this, use a sponge to wipe off any of the remaining dirt.
2. Eliminate the odour
Overtime, your oven may begin to smell, particularly if you enjoy fish or other odorous foods. You can save yourself from embarrassment by adding a few drops of vanilla or citrus essence to your oven's base - it will then smell fresh and fragrant for as long as possible.
3. Deep clean
When you cook, you're likely to end up with grease, oils and food remanence that will build up inside your oven.That's where Dr. Beckmann’s Oven Cleaner can come in to effect -be sure to spray evenly on your ovens surfaces before leaving it to work for 30- 60 minutes. You can then wash off any excess with a clean cloth and hot soapy water to give you a spotless oven.
4. Reduce the grease
When you cook with raw meat or fish, you can always try using cooking bags. This then reduces the risk of spillages and cuts down the risk of bad smells, leaving them trapped inside the bag. You can stop the grease from transferring onto your baking trays by using either baking paper or foil - they have the added advantage of keeping your trays clean too.
5. Keep on top of it
One thing you don't want to do? Leave the cleaning of your oven until the end of your rent agreement or when you're no longer able to see through the oven door. Instead, it's recommended that you clean your oven around every four to six weeks.
