As we come closer to the clocks going back, the weather will inevitably get colder and wetter
While some of us love the cosy settings this can provide, it doesn’t prevent it from having an impact on your patio.
However, there are a few steps that can be taken to help you prepare yours for the months ahead, as Lee Dunderdale of Bradstone explains...
1. Clean your patio
The first step is protecting your patio - this ensures it remains clean. Make sure you regularly remove any fungus, dirt, mildew, algae and leaves that accumulate on the stones, and give it a regular wash-down with a stiff brush or broom.
2. Remove pots and furniture
A good way to avoid any stains or mildew building up will be to remove any plant pots and garden furniture that you have on your patio. By bringing potted plants indoors and storing them away, you help to protect them from the bad weather.
A good quality sealer can be used to prevent stains and weeds, and if it's applied early enough, it ensures protection during the colder months. Remember you can only apply sealer on a clean and dry patio surface though.
