Four ways to personalise your home

Four ways to personalise your home

If you're looking to give your home a personal feel, these four tips will set you on your way

1. Don't feel you have to follow current trends. It can be easy to get swept up by what you see everyone else is doing on Instagram but that doesn't mean you automatically have to do it. If you love it, there's no reason not to - however, avoid living in a home that everyone else loves apart from you - it can sometimes be a real challenge.

2. Give your home the artwork and prints you love. It gives your space a personal touch and will also provide a talking point when your friends come over and they want to know the stories and inspiration behind them.

3. You can add a mix of both old and new furniture. This combination brings character to a room while creating a less formal feeling. If you particularly love vintage-style pieces, a retro sideboard looks great when it's paired with a more modern metallic piece, including a TV unit.

4. Don't be scared of upcycling the furniture yourself. A bland piece, such as a plain dining chair can easily be amped up with a good dose of spray or chalk paint. You just need to make sure you take your time and get it right.
