Themed décor gives you a chance to completely personalise your house. However before charging in and buying everything you think you need, stop! Read our expert advice to ensure you act in a careful way to get the best look for your house!
1 Fine-tune your inspiration
Focus on just one item to act as your inspiration. Be it furniture, artwork or even something as simple as fabric, it's imperative that you love it enough to make your room cohesively themed. Having decided on the item, let it set the tone for the colour and over-arching style that you'll use for the rest of the room.
2 Get moodboarding!
Whether it's online or in a scrapbook, moodboards provide a great way to gather an overview of what to expect from your planned purchases before you've taken the plunge and bought them! If you're feeling particularly tech-savvy you could even Photoshop your room into the new wanted scheme.
3 Let the room flow!
Repeat certain colours to encourage the flow from room to room.
4 Act methodically
Once you've established a plan don't go in with a scatter gun approach, buying everything at once. Instead, start by painting the walls and then fitting any new flooring. After this return any big pieces of furniture to arrange properly. Only once this is all done should you scatter your accessories and art - this order will create a balanced and 'full' room.
