Amazon is a very handy place to go to for just about everything

And now, it's usefulness is going to a whole new level, following the launch of the Amazon Home Services.

Here's how it works. Launching in the UK yesterday, it will allow customers who are buying products from the UK, ranging from televisions and household appliances to garden furniture, to now schedule is installation or assembly help from a trusted professional when they're at the checkout.

The service will also allow customers to browse, purchase and schedule a selection of professional services, even if they buy their products elsewhere - and for added ease, it comes with upfront pricing and verified ratings and reviews.

Amazon has said its service 'features a curated list of handpicked tradespeople and service providers', whether that be general handymen, electricians, plumbers or home cinema specialists.

The online retailer also includes a 'Happiness Guarantee' with all service purchases, which offers extra reassurance for customers with regards to the quality of the work that takes place.

At the moment, the service is available to Amazon customers in London, Birmingham and Manchester, but the retailer has said that given time, more cities and services will be added.

Scott Webter, the general manager at Amazon Home Services Europe said: "We’re thrilled to be expanding Amazon Home Services to the UK as a simple way to book trusted, service professionals. Following our successful launch in the US, customers have told us they love the convenience and peace of mind that comes with trusted, professional installation of their products."

"We’re delighted to be able to offer this same experience to UK customers through a network of handpicked, local tradespeople and service providers."
