Sometimes, you can't avoid the fact that your kitchen just feel cluttered
While having the space for features like an island would be nice, the reality is many of us do not. Fear not - there are a few clever ideas that could help you to maximise the space you do have, as we explain here...
Use your cupboard doors
Your cupboard doors provide you with potential for previously untapped storage - not sure how? Well, all you need to do it install hooks or a rack (but you'll need to ensure they are slim enough to still allow you to shut the door properly). You can then hang or store your pots, lids or trays.
Accept that you'll have to leave some things on display - however that doesn't mean you can't keep them organised. That's where containers come in. They can be used to keep your kitchen accessories together - apart from anything else, you'll know where they are straight away!
Over cupboard storage
Utilise the space you have on top of your kitchen cupboards - this will be ideal for storing those items you're not likely to need on a daily basis. Make sure you don’t leave anything at risk of falling over the edge though.
If you have the space, add shelving - and it doesn't just have to be a single solitary shelf either, it can be a row of them, if you have the room. It will normally be a cheaper option than adding kitchen cupboards too and can be customised to fit the space you have. You need to think about the items to have on display though (for instance, an open loaf of bread may not be as aesthetically pleasing as a selection of mugs), as well as ensuring you keep on top of it - as they will be completely visible, all it takes is the slightest hint of untidiness for your kitchen to feel cluttered.
