How rising temperatures influence our garden plans

How rising temperatures influence our garden plans

Posted 20th April by Peter Byrne

With temperatures soaring, it has been revealed that Brits are making the most of the heat by investing in staycation chic

Online marketplace eBay.co.uk reported that on Saturday 14th April, as the sun finally burst through the clouds, there was a sudden flurry of searches for garden furniture, with seven reported every minute.

The most attractive style was found to be Rattan garden furniture, with nearly three searches made every minute. It proved so popular that garden furniture became the third most searched item on eBay, beating the usual terms of iPhone and sofas.

And, it seemed, the glorious weather made us start to think about getting our gardens in order, with 3,000 searches made for lawnmowers and sheds on Saturday alone, representing two searches a minute.

While temperatures haven't quite hit sweltering standards, it still seemed we were dreaming of taking a refreshing dip, with searches for hot tubs hitting a rate of two per minute. These searches ranged from an inflatable spa for four to a more tropical rattan tub for six. Proving there was no limit to our summer vibes, there was also an increase of 85 per cent of searches for paddling pools in just 24 hours.

Yet we were also looking to add a gazebo to our garden - the sun was seemingly already proving to be a touch too sweltering - as a result, searches for the picnic-perfect canopy had an increase to a rate of over two a minute.
