Transforming an old set of pine drawers

Transforming an old set of pine drawers

Posted 19th Feb 2018

Inspired by gorgeous Moroccan style candles, votives and lanterns, Helen Johnson, of Wear Valley Decorating Centre, talks us through dressing up an old set of pine drawers…

You will need

Rust-Oleum Chalky Finish Furniture Paint 125ml - Winter Grey
Rust-Oleum Metallic Furniture Paint 125ml - Silver
Rust-Oleum Finishing Wax 125ml - Silver
Brush
Sanding pads
Old rag
New stencil - we loved the diamond style to match our Moroccan candle

Directions

1 Apply two coats of furniture paint to the drawers.

2 Apply the stencil to the drawer fronts and then brush on the silver furniture paint.

Top tip: Dip your brush into the paint then dab as much of it back off into kitchen paper. This then applies a rougher more vintage effect to the drawer fronts.

3 Use a sanding pad to lightly buff the stencil print to make it look more aged and rustic.

4 Apply the silver furniture wax to the top and sides of the drawers to give a shimmer effect to the chalky finish paint.

Et voila: totally transformed pine drawers for less than £10!
