We may have the best of intentions when it comes to our New Year's resolutions but a combination of the weather and a general 'meh' feeling that can come with January often stops us in our tracks

However, Mindful Chef could help you change this. As a further boost to help you get through January, Myles recommends:

Eat at home more often and get into the habit of making your own lunches

Save eating out for special occasions and ensure you set time aside to enjoy cooking. You can then produce your own delicious feasts!

Avoid or lower your refined carbohydrate intake

Often found in foods such as white bread, white rice, pasta and starchy vegetables, refined carbohydrates will be rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream, resulting in risky spikes in blood sugar and insulin levels. Eating these in excess can lead to mood swings, weight gain, insulin resistance, heart disease and diabetes. By making small changes and switches to healthier alternatives, you can make a huge difference. 

Meditate

Something as simple as ten minutes of meditation will help you to enjoy the world around you and to better understand ourselves. This doesn't mean you have to sit cross legged on the floor in silence - instead, get off the tube or bus a stop or two early, and walk the rest of the way alone. Then, put your phone away and take the time to listen to your thoughts and take in the world.

Regularly exercise

If you hate exercising, find an activity that increases your fitness without feeling like exercise. This could be cycling, surfing, dancing, rock climbing or even hiking - just make sure you enjoy it. Better yet, encourage a friend to join you and you're more likely to stick to it beyond January.

Switch off

73 per cent of Brits say they'd struggle to go a day without checking their phone or computer - technology can be incredibly helpful but switching it off can be just as beneficial. Make sure you eat lunch away from your desk and take an hour or two a day to switch off completely. Doing so will help you sleep, reduce stress levels and ensure you have time to reconnect with those around you.
