A few homely touches can quickly make a rental feel like a home, as we explain below
Before you do anything major to your rental, you should always check with the property owner. However, it will often be okay to decorate to your own taste - a brightly painted door can always be made white again.
Inject personality into your rental by using the walls. You can add picture ledges to minimise holes, and use Command picture hanging strips, which if done properly will leave no marks. Alternatively, try removable stickers - nowadays, they come in a huge variety of styles.
Invest in quality furniture which will last and can move with you. it's worth choosing classic styles that you won't get bored of and pick neutral colours that won't date instead of following the latest trends.
Add lots of cheap accessories to transform a bedsit into a colourful, becoming pad. Rugs, cushions and ornaments can be picked up from high street shops, so you can easily update a new space on a tight budget.
