Ashley McDow was determined that her new London home would stand out with creativity, vibrant colours and recycled finds

A bit about me

I’m Ashley McDow and I live with my boyfriend, Michael Duffy, and our dog, Otis the whippet.

Where I live

Our home is a Georgian conversion basement flat in Walthamstow, North East London.

What I wanted to change

A developer had left the flat half renovated. It had been rewired and replumbed, and a basic kitchen and most of a bathroom installed, but it needed decorating to our taste.

How I made it my own

As a textile designer, I love colour and pattern. I also enjoy rescuing and recycling furniture and accessories, and each room reflects this.

My favourite part

The sitting room because it is really colourful and cheerful. It is the first room we see when we come into the house so it had to feel welcoming.

You can find out more about Ashley's home by purchasing our August 2016 issue, available as a digital download for only £0.99, here.
