Posted: 3rd Jan 2020

New year, new you! January is a time for cleaning up, sorting out and putting away. Here's our pick of the latest home products to make your life less complicated.

1. Scented vinegar, £9, Norfolk Natural Living

Harness the natural power of vinegar but with the fresh scent of lavender or rose. Use this to freshen up laundry or upholstery, or simply to clean surfaces without leaving behind an acidic odour.

2. Shark Anti Hair Wrap Vacuum TruePet AZ950UKT, £299.99, Shark

If you’re tired of removing tangled hair from the brush of your vacuum, check out the new range by appliance brand Shark, which removes the hair as you clean thanks to Anti Hair Wrap technology. All models feature a DuoClean floorhead that automatically lifts dirt from both carpet and hard floors, and a function that means you can convert an upright into a cordless vacuum by simply lifting the detachable pod away from the floorhead – very handy for stairs and below furniture. Plus, at the time of writing, this model can be yours for £299.99 - £100 below its usual price!

3. Quadrate Harmonique towel rail, from £550.80, Vogue

If you’re looking for a powerful heating option for a bathroom, kitchen or utility which doesn’t take up a lot of space, check out Vogue’s Quadrate Harmonique. It combines a seven-rail towel warmer with an inset double panel radiator and provides a whopping 1,003 Watts/3,422 BTUs heat output. Available in central heating, dual fuel or electric versions, the MD078 measures H1200 x W500 x D105-120mm, and comes in chrome or white.

4. EazzyPress Quick Iron with Travel Accessories, £39.99, Lakeland

When Lakeland promised a gadget that cut ironing time in half, we jumped at the chance to test it for ourselves! The EazzyPress looks a bit like a pair of hair straighteners and irons both sides of your clothes at the same time while they’re on the hanger – we found it really easy to master. Simply iron damp clothes or spray them with water beforehand using the mister included. It’s great for travelling as you don’t need an ironing board and it’s sized just 28cm long and 750g in weight. It heats up very quickly and is great for a speedy last-minute smarten up!

5. Addis 38L fold-flat laundry basket, £15.99, Addis

Now it’s easy to stash the washing basket neatly out of sight, thanks to the Addis 38L fold-flat laundry basket, which collapses and can be placed discreetly in a cupboard, or tucked in at the side of a washing machine. To operate, simply pull the handles apart and push the base down until it clips into place. And to collapse, just turn the basket upside down and push on the base where indicated.

6. Freestanding microwaves, from £64.99, Candy

Candy’s new freestanding microwave range boasts a whole host of handy features, from energy-saving stand-by modes to smooth interiors that make cleaning easier. Some models boast 40 automatic cooking programmes and the Candy Cook-In App to give you useful tips and recipes ideas via your smart phone. The range, which includes grill and combination models, is available in white, black, silver or mirrored finishes, with a choice of sizes and wattage outputs up to 900W.
