After a decade-long wait, Keeley Wilson finally has a home to call her own, with a lounge that’s bursting with creativity
A bit about me
Hi, I’m Keeley Wilson, and I live with my partner, Alan, and our children, Archie, eight, and Violet, five, in a two-bed 1930s house in Hampton.
My problem living room
This is our first house and, having rented for 10 years or more, I was really keen to put my stamp on our own place. The existing décor was easy to live with but dated and not to our taste – the only thing we loved was the ceiling.
How I made it work
I wanted to lighten everything up and get rid of the wood, which seemed to be everywhere. I was inspired by a book, Decorating with Style by Abigail Ahern, and from that point on, it was all systems go. I ripped up the carpet, took down the curtains and started looking for the wallpaper. Alan was really keen on the blue, and we really like to work on a room together as a team. I agreed the blue would work really nicely, and would help to create the relaxed adult environment we so wanted.
My favourite part
We took the plunge and painted the fireplace in shades of blue. I’m so pleased we did, I couldn’t be happier with the result!
